Amalaya Blanco Torrontes Riesling Argentina
Pale gold in colour with youthful highlights. On the nose, there are intense aromas of grapefruit which are balanced with a touch of minerality and floral notes. On the palate, it has a crisp acidity with a long, mineral finish.Suitable for vegetarians.Suitable for vegans.Great to drink on its own or with any spicy dishes.The Torrontés and Riesling grapes were grown on the Finca San Isidoro and Finca Las Mercedes vineyards. These are located in the Cafayate Valley in the very heart of the Calchaqui Valley, distinguished for being the highest wine region in the world. The climate here is very dry, with just 150mm of rain in an average year and a huge diurnal temperature change of around 20°C. The soils here are rocky, poor and sandy so the roots of the vines are forced to dig deep to find the vital nutrients and water they need, which in turn results in a huge concentration of flavour within the fruit.

Made by Waterkloof's talented young Cellarmaster Nadia Barnard. Balanced grapes are hand harvested, fermented spontaneously with wild yeast and then raised in large wooden casks (or 'foudre' en Francais). The resulting wine therefore, is perhaps more 'Pino' than 'Tage'. No additions other than sulphur as a preservative. Grown, made and bottled in South Africa. The wines of Terres Fidèles are designed to express the spirit of this extraordinary place, old vine Grenache, Carignan, Malbec, Cinsault, Viognier and more, that are authentically crafted, small batch wines of the wilds.Mont Rocher Carignan Vieilles Vignes is produced from 50-year-old, low yielding vines growing on rugged limestone rich soils, in sun drenched vineyards at the foothills of the Pyrénées. It is here some of the most expressive Carignan is grown and crafted to display purity of fruit and a distinctive 'goût de terroir', carried out in a modern style. The grapes are de-stemmed, crushed and fermentation is carried out at controlled temperature, around 23°C . Ageing is carried out in tanks with a small amount of French oak staves to add more complexity and roundness to the wine.Juicy and mouthwatering, our old vine Carignan displays hallmark black cherry aromas. Intense, cigar box and ripe spiced fruit on the nose, a full-bodied St Emilion. Properly structured but with plush red fruits and a touch of leather and cedar with fine grained lingering tannins that last right through to the long finish.From 2 hectares of vines with an average age of 25-30 years. A portion of the vines are situated at the base of the Saint Christophe des Bardes slope on sand and iron rich sandstone soils, the rest are situated on the gravel soils of Saint Sulpice. Planting is high density at 6,600 - 9000 vines per hectare.
