Casa Ermelinda Freitas is a fourth-generation family winery located in Fernando Pó on Portugal’s Setúbal Peninsula, south of Lisbon. The region’s Mediterranean climate, with hot summers, cool winters, and over 300 hours of sun per month, contributes to the production of distinctive, high-quality wines.This wine presents a dark violet colour. Intense aromas of blackberries and black plums, violets and hints of spices. The palate is rich, with the presence of fine herbs and a touch of cocoa accompanied by notes of mint and violet and the sweetness of vanilla from oak ageing. A very well concentrated, with velvety and well-integrated tannins.

Intense red with a bright purple edge. Aromas of ripe plum, blue fruits, dark choc and hints of cedar. The concentrated yet supple palate shows more blue fruits, rich dark chocolate, hints of spice and elegantly structured tannins. Harvest is carried out in the cool of the morning. Fruit is then carefully destemmed into Potters and fermented at 25-30°C over 7-8 days. Pressed, racked and matured in new and older Hogshead barrels for 12 months. 40% was kept in tank to retain those lovely fruits to blend with the oak matured portions. This wine is suitable for vegans.Great with pizza and pasta.
