Hacker Sangiovese Tuscany Ferro 13

Hacker Sangiovese Tuscany Ferro 13

Sangiovese from vineyards in the heart of Tuscany in the Greve hills at some 300 metres above sea level.  A wine with wonderful structure and freshness with a bouquet of sweet violet and berry fruit. Gentle tannin and wonderful depth of flavour. A full wine but showing elegance and charm. Grown on vines in the heart of Tuscany – the hills of Greve in Chianti, 300 metres above sea level. The grapes Harvested in the final 10 days of September from a single plot and taken immediately to the vinification cellar. De-stemming and crushing performed with destemming press. Transfer of crushed grapes into conical oak wooden vats at uncontrolled temperature and alcoholic fermentation with subsequent maceration of the must on the skins. The wine is then drawn off, the wine is separated from the marc, and is then transferred to oak barrels at a controlled temperature where the malolactic fermentation takes place. The wine is decanted into other steel tanks and the topping is carried out until it is left to mature and stabilize for about 4 months. The wine thus created is transferred to the bottling cellar where it is clarified and filtered and introduced into the bottling line. The bottles are then left to mature for a few months.

Herdare do Peso Sossego Alentejo Tinto Portugal

Herdare do Peso Sossego Alentejo Tinto Portugal

This wine is bright ruby red in colour. On the nose, generous aromas of strawberries and red cherries stand out, with spicy complexity coming from the oak ageing. It is vibrant and supple on the palate with elegant tannins, delicately balanced acidity and a lovely fresh finish. The Guedes family had always rated the quality of the Herdade do Peso grapes – they had been using them in their Vinha do Monte wines since the early 1990s – and jumped at the opportunity to purchase the estate in 1996. Situated in the south of the Alentejo, in the sub-region of Vidígueira, the Herdade do Peso estate covers a total of 457 hectares, 160 hectares of which are currently planted with vines. Winemaker Luís Cabral de Almeida makes expressive and generous wines that reflect the warmer climate of the Alentejo. VINEYARDS Despite its southerly location, Vidígueira is one of the cooler Alentejo sub-regions and benefits from cool Atlantic air funnelled inland from the coast by a gap in the surrounding mountains. Limestone soils help to control vine vigour and lend elegance to the wines. All of the Herdade do Peso vineyards are sustainably farmed and an on-site dam provides much-needed water to irrigate the vineyards during the Alentejo summers. VINIFICATION Following full destemming and gentle crushing, maceration and fermentation took place in stainless-steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 26ºC over a period of around eight days. After malolactic fermentation, the wine aged in second, third and fourth fill French oak barrels for around six months. It underwent a light fining and filtration before bottling.

Monastrell Molino Loco Murcia Spain

Monastrell Molino Loco Murcia Spain

This wine is a beautiful deep and vibrant red colour, with purple hues on the rim. On the nose, it shows elegant ripe red plum and cherry notes. The palate is very well structured, with soft tannins and a delicate, fruity finish.Suitable for vegetariansSuitable for vegansMolino Loco is made by the Castaño family in Yecla and takes its name from the windmill ('molino') that sits on the edge of the vineyards where they produce their fruit. In contrast to other windmills, which turn in windy conditions, this particular windmill is "loco", the Spanish for crazy, as it turns only on calm, still days. VINEYARDS The vineyards are located at an altitude of 500 metres above sea level. They are dry-farmed and the clay soil is poor, meaning that the roots of the vines grow deep into the earth in their search for minerals and nutrients. This helps to ensure healthy, ripe, full of flavour grapes. The Monastrell vineyards are over 18 years old, while the Syrah vines are slightly younger, averaging around 15 years. VINIFICATION The grapes were gently crushed before being fermented and macerated on their skins for 10 days at a controlled temperature of 24-26ºC in stainless-steel tanks. After fermentation the wine was aged very briefly in oak to round out the tannins. The delicate grape processing preserved the natural fruit purity and freshness that is so typical of the Molino Loco style.

Pinot Noir Gran Reserva Novas Casablanca Chile Organic

Pinot Noir Gran Reserva Novas Casablanca Chile Organic

Light cherry red in colour leads to an elegant nose of red cherry and raspberry fruit with gentle spice notes from barrel aging. The palate is silky, fine and hugely inviting. Delicious ripe summer fruit character is perfectly balanced by soft tannins and refreshing acidity. It has a long and elegant finish.Very good with white meats and oily fish. The perfect partner for mushroom-parmesan risotto. The Casablanca Valley is influenced by its proximity to the Pacific Ocean and its coastal breezes that moderate temperatures. The area ranges from soft rolling hills to higher hills toward the Coastal  Mountain range in the east. The poor, sandy loam soils are alluvial in origin, relatively shallow and very permeable, resulting in yields which are generally low in comparison with other Chilean valleys.  Temperatures are much cooler here, allowing the grapes to ripen very slowly to produce rich flavoured wines. The Casablanca Valley is influenced by the Pacific Ocean and the Humboldt Current, resulting in constant humidity and average temperatures of 25ºC in the summer and 14ºC in the winter. The spring of 2015 was cooler than average and the relative humidity was higher. This caused uneven budbreak and later ripening. An increase in rainfall forced an earlier harvest in April. The grapes are harvested into 400-kg bins and transported to the winery, where first the clusters and then the grapes (after destemming) are selected on a conveyor belt. Once in the tank, they undergo a pre-fermentation maceration for 3 days, followed naturally by alcoholic fermentation with native yeasts. During this stage, temperatures are kept at 24-26º C, with a gentle pump-over routine. A 2-3-day post-fermentation maceration is then carried out. Malolactic fermentation occurs spontaneously in stainless steel tanks and barrels. The wine is filtered through 1-micron membranes and then bottled. 70% of the wine is aged for 6 months in French oak barrels.Suitable for Vegetarians and Vegans. This wine is Organic.

The Gentleman Pinot Nero Pavia Ferro 13

The Gentleman Pinot Nero Pavia Ferro 13

An elegant bouquet which recalls notes of red fruit and berries, the palate is characterized by fruity undertones (blackberry, raspberry and cherry) with a balanced finish of slight tannins, acidity and spices. Enjoy with roasted duck, or rich creamy pastas with truffle. The vines are grown in the hills of Pavia, 130 metres above sea level. The grapes are harvested in the final 10 days of September and taken immediately to the vinification cellar, where the de-stemming and crushing is performed. The transfer of the crushed grapes into conical trunk vats in oak wood is not temperate controlled. The wine is then drawn off, separated from the marc, and transferred to oak barrels at a controlled temperature where the malolactic fermentation takes place. Here the vinification is slow and uses the techniques of delestage and batonage. The wine is decanted into steel tanks and the topping is carried out until it is left to mature and stabilize for about 4 months. The wine is then transferred to the bottling cellar where it is clarified and filtered and introduced into the bottling line. The bottles are then left to mature for a few months.
