Soils are alluvial, rich in minerals with good drainage and irrigated by water from the snow thaw. The grapes were hand picked. The Maipo zone has ideal conditions for growing Cabernet Sauvignon. The Maipo River regulates the temperatures naturally and prevents frost and extremes of heat and cold. The spring of 2013 was slightly colder than the historic average, followed by a summer with high temperatures, which accelerated ripening and prevented the delays that were initially predicted for the 2014 harvest. Rainfall in the Maipo Valley was concentrated in the winter months and reached approximately 250 mm, which is well below the nearly 450 mm recorded during the 2012–2013 season. The grape reception area includes a double selection conveyor belt that allows selection first at the bunch level and again after destemming. Vinification begins with a 4–5-day prefermentation cold soak at 8ºC followed by alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks with native yeasts at 26ºC and a pumpovers program determined by enological criteria. Malolactic fermentation takes place naturally in tanks and barrels, where the wine is aged at controlled temperatures for 12 months. It is neither fined nor stabilized; it is just lightly filtered with a 1-micron cartridge filter priorto bottling.Suitable for Vegetarians and Vegans. This wine is Organic.

do Peso grapes – they had been using them in their Vinha do
Monte wines since the early 1990s – and jumped at the
opportunity to purchase the estate in 1996. Situated in the south of
the Alentejo, in the sub-region of Vidígueira, the Herdade do Peso
estate covers a total of 457 hectares, 160 hectares of which are
currently planted with vines. Winemaker Luís Cabral de Almeida
makes expressive and generous wines that reflect the warmer
climate of the Alentejo.
VINEYARDS
Despite its southerly location, Vidígueira is one of the cooler
Alentejo sub-regions and benefits from cool Atlantic air funnelled
inland from the coast by a gap in the surrounding mountains.
Limestone soils help to control vine vigour and lend elegance to
the wines. All of the Herdade do Peso vineyards are sustainably
farmed and an on-site dam provides much-needed water to
irrigate the vineyards during the Alentejo summers.

The perfect partner for mushroom-parmesan risotto. The Casablanca Valley is influenced by its proximity to the Pacific Ocean and its coastal breezes that moderate temperatures. The area ranges from soft rolling hills to higher hills toward the Coastal Mountain range in the east. The poor, sandy loam soils are alluvial in origin, relatively shallow and very permeable, resulting in yields which are generally low in comparison with other Chilean valleys. Temperatures are much cooler here, allowing the grapes to ripen very slowly to produce rich flavoured wines. The Casablanca Valley is influenced by the Pacific Ocean and the Humboldt Current, resulting in constant humidity and average temperatures of 25ºC in the summer and 14ºC in the winter. The spring of 2015 was cooler than average and the relative humidity was higher. This caused uneven budbreak and later ripening. An increase in rainfall forced an earlier harvest in April. The grapes are harvested into 400-kg bins and transported to the winery, where first the clusters and then the grapes (after destemming) are selected on a conveyor belt. Once in the tank, they undergo a pre-fermentation maceration for 3 days, followed naturally by alcoholic fermentation with native yeasts. During this stage, temperatures are kept at 24-26º C, with a gentle pump-over routine. A 2-3-day post-fermentation maceration is then carried out. Malolactic fermentation occurs spontaneously in stainless steel tanks and barrels. The wine is filtered through 1-micron membranes and then bottled. 70% of the wine is aged for 6 months in French oak barrels.Suitable for Vegetarians and Vegans. This wine is Organic.

which determines the final classification of the property. Here, this sum exceeds 1200 points, ensuring
it belongs to a select group of "Class A" properties. Vintage 2011 was so widely declared because
of the exceptional weather conditions which
differed quite dramatically from the rest of
Europe. A wet Autumn in 2010 left subsoils
nicely damp and able to cope with the near
drought conditions that ensued in the first half
of 2011, then a cool summer helped to
maintain freshness and avoid any overly dry,
raisiny characteristics. Some welcome splashes
of rain at the end of August and early
September helped to ripen tannins (and bring
them back in line with sugar levels) then the
dry days and cool nights that followed provided
perfect picking conditions. The result is a
superb single Quinta Port from the excellent

95%, Garnacha 5%. The vines in La Muga and Los Poyatos vineyards are mostly
very old Tempranillo bush vines. Really healthy grapes were harvested and after
slow fermentation in tank at controlled temperatures the wine was transferred
to barrel for 6 months. A mixture of a very few of new American oak barrels,
just to give the spice and toast aromas but mostly 2nd and 3rd year barrels of
predominantly French oak were used to promote the evolution of the wine from a
bright fruit bomb to something more mellow with a roundness and the
unmistakeable stamp of something good, a “Semi-Crianza” of sorts.
