Bright aromas of wild blackberry and spice. The palate has ripe bramble fruit, supple tannins and juicy acidity. An approachable, warm and juicy red from Portugal's Douro region. Perfect with hearty bean and lentil casseroles, with or without sausages.The local grapes - Touriga Nacional, Touriga Francesa and Tinta Roriz - grow in fine soils with some schist in vineyards near Cambres, in the western part of the Douro valley and south of the river. The climate here is warm and dry, and some of the vines are over 50 years old. After harvesting fermentation takes place in stainless steel, with a small portion (around 10%) ageing for 4 months in 2nd year French oak barrels, before the final blending and bottling.

The name Los Cardos comes from the thistle: the sign of a good harvest. This wine represents just that, a fantastic example of Cabernet Sauvignon from Mendoza in Argentina. Deep ruby red in colour, it is full of black fruit flavours, with a good hint of spice as well. It is really elegant, with a long finish.The grapes are harvested in late March and early April. In the winery, they are first destemmed and softly crushed. A cold pre fermentative maceration takes place to preserve the primary aromas. Then, the must is cooled and traditional fermentation starts. Serve with: Beef, lamb or pork, pasta with tomato sauce or mushrooms, risotto, empanadas, pizzas. The palate is concentrated and very smooth with great crunchy red fruit character. The tannins are ripe and providewelcome grip and combined delicious acidity, leads to a balanced finish.FOOD MATCHThis wine is ideal with well-seasoned, strong-flavoured dishes, such as pasta with Bolognese sauce, stuffed cannelloni, grilled beef, pork, or poultry. It also goes very nicely with ripe cheeses, salami, ham, and pastrami. The Central Valley vitivinicultural zone extends from the Maipo Valley in the north to the Maule Valley in the south. The entire zone has good drainage, high fertility, and tremendous agricultural aptitude, especially for red grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenère, and others. The Mediterranean climate has warm summers with broad daily oscillations between daytime and night time temperatures, and cold, rainy winters that allow for good vine development. The soils are of alluvial origin with moderate depth, and good for agriculture. The grapes were hand picked in mid- April and submitted to a week-long pre-fermentation cold soak at 8ºC (46ºF) to extract fresh fruit characteristics. Alcoholic fermentation took place at 25º–28ºC with daily pump-overs. The new wine remained on its skins for a period, after which the free run wine was separated from its skins and allowed to undergo malolactic fermentation naturally. Part of this wine was aged in oak barrels for 6 months and later reblended to achieve a more complex character.Suitable for Vegetarians and VegansThis wine is Organic.
