Casa Ermelinda Freitas is a fourth-generation family winery located in Fernando Pó on Portugal’s Setúbal Peninsula, south of Lisbon. Led by Leonor Freitas, the winery began bottling under its own label in 1997 after significant investment in modern facilities. The region’s Mediterranean climate, with hot summers, cool winters, and over 300 hours of sun per month, contributes to the production of distinctive, high-quality wines.This wine presents a dark violet colour. Intense aromas of blackberries and black plums, violets and hints of spices. The palate is rich, with the presence of fine herbs and a touch of cocoa accompanied by notes of mint and violet and the sweetness of vanilla from oak ageing. A very well concentrated, with velvety and well-integrated tannins.

The idea with the Bean is to create a wine with dark fruit that is finely integrated with coffee/mocha flavours. To achieve this, the wine was fermented and aged on well roasted French oak staves. The Bean has a deep purple colour, the nose shows dark mocha and roasted coffee bean aromas. The wine has a lot of tannin, but these tannins are fine and silky and well integrated. The palate is mouth filling and surprisingly complex for such a young wine. Intense ruby red colour with a complex bouquet, reminiscent of cherries, raspberries and redcurrants. The oak ageing adds a pleasant roasted and spicy aroma. The palate is full bodied, supple and well balanced with a long finish.Just before harvest the grapes, when the grapes are fully mature and are ready to be picked, the stems of the bunches are twisted so that no further nourishment reaches the grapes, thus inducing a natural drying of the grapes on the vine. The bunches are left for about 12 days and lose approximately 25 - 30% of their weight in water, concentrating their flavours before harvest. Perfect with roast red meats and mature cheeses.

NEW INThis deep purple wine shows peppery notes, along with ripe blackberries and blueberries. Smooth and medium bodied it has great balance and a lingering finish.The vineyard is located in Nashik, to the north of Mumbai in the Western Ghats Mountains. The vines are grown at approximately 600 metres above sea level. The climate here is mild in the winter with temperatures of approximately 10°C, rising to 35°C in the summer. Rainfall can be high. The vines are grown in red soils with gravel and clay, which has a high iron content and good drainage. deep purple wine with delicious notes of ripe blackberry and blueberry fruit, enlivened by a hint of black peppery spice and a touch of rich dark chocolate. Smooth and medium bodied on the palate, it shows great balance and a lingering finish.The grapes were cold soaked and then fermented in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures of between 25° to 30°C. During fermentation regular, gentle pump-overs took place to extract the desired levels of colour and flavour and to impart structure to the wine. The wine is influenced with a subtle oak character to impart complexity to the wine

It is believed to have been brought to California by emigrants from Southern Italy. The wine is made to a traditional process that takes into account the grapes character. This requires excellent quality grapes and the vineyards total dedication to this process. The wine is ruby red with crimson tinges and has aromas of coffee, blackberries, red berries. The palate is mellow to start, with round and delicate tannins. Then follows a warm lingering finish. Ideal with pasta, pizza, grilled chicken or on it's own as an aperitif.
