Next Wine Tasting Event is at Slepe Hall, St. Ives on 1st Nov.

  • Marques de Caceres Gran Reserva Rioja

A fine Rioja made from low yielding vines in Rioja Alta. Some of the vines are over 60 years old.

Once the grapes are de stemmed and crushed the juice is fermented and the juice is kept in contact with the skins for up to 30 days to extract more colour, aroma and tannic structure. The juice is then kept in new French barrels for ageing for between 24 and 26 months before being bottled. The wine is then kept in bottle for 4 years before being released.

The wine has a dark colour with a hint of brick red on the edge. Superb complexity on the nose  with refined oak notes. Full in the mouth with a depth of mature plums, sweet spice and roasted coffee beans. Still fresh, this wine can still be kept.
