This is a blend of grapes from two estates in the south of DO Rías Baixas in Galicia, north west Spain. Taboexa is a 13ha estate at 300m above sea level, with sandy and granitic soil typical of the region. The Arantei estate is at just 30m above sea level - with clay and pebbly soil. Harvest typically begins in the middle of September - grapes are hand harvested and collected in 20 kilo crates. 70% of the grapes are macerated before pressing for 6 hours at a controlled temperature. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel using natural yeasts, and maturation on the lees is also in stainless steel. The mineral and fruity character from the Arantei grapes is balanced by the freshness of the Taboexa grapes.
 

Intense pale golden colour. The aromatic range includes lychee and some pineapple notes. The wood integration is seamless with just a distant hint of vanilla. The wine is superbly balanced on the palate with some citrus fruit and honeyed character underpinned by very fine, flinty acidity.

The principal component variety of the Altano Reserva White is the Viosinho, widely regarded as one of the finest indigenous white grape variety from the Douro Valley. The Viosinho grapes are entirely sourced from a Symington family owned vineyard at an altitude range of 500 to 600 metres. Other important components are the Códega do Larinho and Gouveio varietites, also sourced from high altitude vineyards from the Murça and Alijó areas, from which we conserved the necessary acidity for the barrel- fermented wines, left on lees until bottling. 

70% of the blend fermented and aged sur lie in barrel. New and second year barrels used with a 50/50 split. Bottled in June 2018 and stored to attain some bottle-ageing prior to release.

A couple of years of bottle age are ideal for enjoyment of the wine at its best.

Vineyards planted in altitude, in Provezende, Alijó and Murça areas of the Douro. 59% Viosinho, 35% Códega do Larinho, 6% Gouveio.

Pale gold in colour with youthful highlights. On the nose, there are intense aromas of grapefruit which are balanced with a touch of minerality and floral notes. On the palate, it has a crisp acidity with a long, mineral finish.

The Torrontés and Riesling grapes were grown on the Finca San Isidoro and Finca Las Mercedes vineyards. These are located in the Cafayate Valley in the very heart of the Calchaqui Valley, distinguished for being the highest wine region in the world. The climate here is very dry, with just 150mm of rain in an average year and a huge diurnal temperature change of around 20°C. The soils here are rocky, poor and sandy so the roots of the vines are forced to dig deep to find the vital nutrients and water they need, which in turn results in a huge concentration of flavour within the fruit.

 A strong ruby red coloured wine. The bouquet has notes of vanilla and sweet fruits such as currants, blueberries and cherries.

Velvety in the mouth, with a firm structure and good balance and a long persistent finish.

Aged in Slavonian oak barrels for about 30 months before bottling.

Serve with red meats and aged cheeses.

This wine can be kept for up to 10 years. 

A very serious and austere Sherry with the classic greenish amber tint, typical of aged amontillados of a rich golden colour. There is a real tang to both nose and palate with orange peel, eucalyptus, varnished wood, fennel and a myriad of other flavours and sensations singing subdued screams against the background canvas of stark dryness and tense acidity defeated by the overwhelming complexities - a really sublime wine.

Ideal with consommé, hard cheeses or tapas dishes such as oxtail of chorizo sausage. Highly recommended with chicken liver parfait.

Grapes are sourced from Fernando de Castilla's partners vineyards in the Jerez district. The soil type is Albariza. Picking takes place in early September. Fernando de Castilla deals only in prestigious, premium wines. The sherries are all from individual soleras. They are bottled without blending, cold stabilization or filtration of any kind in order to preserve the subtlety, purity and distinctive aromas of these premium wines. The products are all bottled in clear glass to show off the wonderful colour of the wines. Fernando de Castilla Antique Amontillado comes from a very old Fino (8 yrs old) which is refortified from 15.5% to 18.0% ABV and introduced into a solera of Amontillado where it spends a further 12 years.
 

This Sherry is the winner of numerous awards and medals.

Rich and long with greater depth and complexity than a standard Fino. Appealing salty tang and a long citrus finish. Very fresh and pure.
This should be served cool, but not very cold. It pairs well with smoked fish, Spanish charcuterie and mature cheeses. Also with scallops served with herbs and garlic.

Grapes are sourced from Fernando de Castilla's partners vineyards in the Jerez district. The soil type is Albariza. Picking takes place in early September. The wine is made from the first pressing of grapes to give a light fresh style. Fermentation takes place at relatively high temperatures to reduce fruit flavour. This makes a very neutral wine which is perfect for the production of sherry. The wine then undergoes natural malolactic fermentation, converting harsh malic acid to softer lactic acid. In the February after harvest, the wine is fortified with grape brandy up to 15% abv. Once at this stage the wine is then added to the youngest Criadera in the Solera. The wine then begins its ageing process under flor, a special type of yeast. Antique Fino is carefully selected from the classic fino and is aged for a further 4 years without any movements, except for monitoring the condition of the Flor yeast. The wine is fortified again, prior to bottling and this time, to 17% Alcohol.

Very pure and classic attributes, fine polished and beautifully crafted. Quite earthy and masculine. Very dry and aromatic with walnut, spices and orange peel notes.

Oloroso typically comes from the second pressing of the grapes or the coarser wines. This wine does not spend any of its life under flor and is fortified in the February after harvest to 18% abv. This is then added to the first Criadera of the Oloroso Solera. The Antique Oloroso is bottled without blending, cold stabilization or filtration of any kind in order to preserve the subtlety, purity and distinctive aromas. On average this wine is 20 years old.
 

Typical Asti aromas of grapes, peaches and a touch of honeysuckle. On the palate the sweetness is balanced by a delicate mousse and attractive grapey flavours.

In 1554, whilst struggling to remain heir to the Spanish throne, Philip II of Spain married Queen Mary I of England. In order to give him equal rank with the Queen, he was renamed Tierra del Rey, ‘King of Chile’ by this father and thus became Chile’s only King. The Central Valley is set in between the majestic Andes Mountains and the mighty Pacific Ocean, making it an ideal location for growing grapes. The mountains protect the wine region by creating dry, hot climatic conditions and the cold ocean breezes keep the vines cool. This combination produces full flavoured wines whilst maintaining that all important acidity essential to make perfectly balanced wines. 

Ruby red in colour. The nose is intense, with a pronounced presence of fruity aromas such as cherries and strawberries as well as truffle and chocolate. Medium bodied, well balanced, and delicate, with particularly smooth tannins and rich acidity, resulting in a juicy and very pleasing wine with a persistent finish.
Ideal with meat-based dishes and stews. This wine shows a unique harmony with grilled blood sausage, slow-cooked beef, and pastas such as gnocchi with blue cheese. Serve at 18ºC in a Bordeauxstyle glass.
The grapes for this wine come from organic vineyards of Los Morros and Los Robles in the Maipo Valley. Soils are alluvial, rich in minerals with good drainage and irrigated by water from the snow  thaw. The grapes were hand picked. The Maipo zone has ideal conditions for growing Cabernet Sauvignon. The Maipo River regulates the temperatures naturally and prevents frost and extremes of heat and cold. The spring of 2013 was slightly colder than the historic average, followed by a summer with high temperatures, which accelerated ripening and prevented the delays that were initially predicted for the 2014 harvest. Rainfall in the Maipo Valley was concentrated in the winter months and reached approximately 250 mm, which is well below the nearly 450 mm recorded during the 2012–2013 season. The grape reception area includes a double selection conveyor belt that allows selection first at the bunch level and again after destemming. Vinification begins with a 4–5-day prefermentation cold soak at 8ºC followed by alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks with native yeasts at 26ºC and a pumpovers program determined by enological criteria. Malolactic fermentation takes place naturally in tanks and barrels, where the wine is aged at controlled temperatures for 12 months. It is neither fined nor stabilized; it is just lightly filtered with a 1-micron cartridge filter prior
to bottling.

The soils are of alluvial origin with moderate depth, and good for agriculture. The grapes were hand picked in mid- April and submitted to a week-long pre-fermentation cold soak at 8ºC (46ºF) to extract fresh fruit characteristics. Alcoholic fermentation took place at 25º–28ºC with daily pump-overs. The new wine remained on its skins for a period, after which the free run wine was separated from its skins and allowed to undergo malolactic fermentation naturally. Part of this wine was aged in oak barrels for 6 months and later reblended to achieve a more complex character.

The Colchagua Valley extends from San Fernando in the north to Chimbarongo in the south. The climate is Mediterranean, and the area receives winds from the south and morning fog. Springs are frost-free, and summers are very warm, which encourages proper ripening. Summers are hot but with cool night temperatures. The soils are medium to very deep, of alluvial origin, and have a silty-loam texture that allows for good vine development. The grapes were hand picked in late April and early May and submitted to a week-long pre-fermentation cold treatment at 8ºC (46ºF) to extract more fruit characteristics. Alcoholic fermentation took place at 25º–28ºC (77º–82ºF) with pumpovers determined  by daily tastings through the end of the process. A post-fermentation maceration followed, and then the wine was devatted, separating the free-run wine from the skins. Malolactic fermentation took place naturally. 20% of the wine was aged in French oak for 6 months and then blended for a more complex character.

A clear, bright pale yellow in colour, with refreshing citrus aromas of grapefruit and lime that intermingle with subtle tropical fruit aromas, especially pineapple, and a touch of herbs. On the palate,
it is a balanced, fresh and fruity wine, with velvety texture and a persistent, enjoyable finish.

Ideal for serving with fish and shellfish, cooked with creamy sauces or butter. Also it is perfect accompanying pasta with seafood sauces and as aperitif, served with different cheese and dried fruits.

 
Casablanca Valley can be identified by its closeness to the Pacific Ocean, influenced by the coastal breeze, which moderates temperatures. The land is basically formed by hills that increase in height as
it goes east towards the Coastal Mountain Range. It has an alluvial origin, with sandy textures of high permeability, poor and shallow, which causes the valley to have low yields, compared to others. The
temperatures are colder and templates, causing a slower ripening in the fruit and, in consequence, great character in flavour and aroma, for white varieties like Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. The grapes
come from vineyards that are approximately 12 years old in the Casablanca estate, trellised in simple vertical shoot position, with an average yield of 12 tons/ha. They were hand-picked into bins during
the first week of March when they had reached the ideal state of ripeness. The grapes were transported to our Nancagua winery for vinification in stainless steel tanks at low temperatures with selected
yeasts, pumpovers, and delicate lees stirring to reach the desired final result. Prior to bottling the wine was fined with adjusted doses of bentonite and cold stabilized to prevent tartaric precipitations in the
bottle.

This is a traditional Châteauneuf-du-Pape serious and brooding and benefits from a little time to breath and open up. The palate is complex with herby, tapenade flavours and ripe textured tannins balancing the significant 15% alcohol which is expertly managed and integrated. 

Try with traditional roast lamb, lentil and vegetable moussaka and any rich hot-pot that heavily features aromatic 'herbes de Provence'. 

The soils of the vineyard are made up of clay and chalk covered with a layer of the classic large peebles ('galets') found in this area, which naturally keep yields low. The vines are over 60 years old and situated near the plateau de Carbières (close to Château Montredon). Harvesting is by hand, with selective sorting of the grapes. The grapes undergo a traditional long 'cuvaison' at quite high temperature and with extended maceration on the skins, 21-24 days to extract plenty of colour, fruit and tannins. This is followed by ageing for between 14-18 months in 'foudres' (large oak barrels), 70% vats, 30% Burgundian pieces and casks.

Named after Luciana, the wife of La Battistina estate's previous owner, this is an elegant and fresh Gavi, easy-drinking but with some depth.

Produced from Cortese grapes cultivated in vineyards on the Monferrato hills in the South of the province of Asti, Piemonte. The vineyards are southwest facing and situated at altitudes of between 250 and 400m. The Piemonte low Guyot trellis system is used for the vines, which grow in a limestone-clay soil. Planting density is 4000 to 4500 vines per hectare. Grapes are hand harvested in the last week of September. Temperature controlled fermentation takes place in stainless steel (16- 18ºC) and the wine spends a couple of months on lees.

The nose offers floral aromas of jasmine, lychee, and honey notes. The floral notes reappear on the palate, along with apricot, and mandarin orange. Medium bodied with good concentration and a refreshing ripe fruit finish. A Thai fighting delight!

Its sweetness makes this wine ideal as an aperitif served with mild cheeses, ham, and dried fruit and nuts. It is also excellent paired with sushi and fresh fruit desserts.
The Rapel Valley lies with the Pacific Ocean to the West, to the east the Andes Mountains, and to the south the province of Colchagua. The climatic characteristics of this valley include frost-free springs and warm summers that allow the grapes to ripen well. The Rapel Valley viticultural zone is located in Chile’s 6th Region, approximately 160 km (100 mi) south of Santiago and includes the sub-valleys of Cachapoal and Colchagua. The entire zone presents good drainage, high fertility, and tremendous agricultural aptitude. Its climate is sub-humid Mediterranean because the low, even hills of the Coastal Mountain Range to the west allow the cooling influence of the Pacific Ocean to penetrate the valley and moderate temperatures. It is highly influenced by the Pacific anticyclone, which results in a concentration of rainfall during the winter months. Precipitation averages 710 mm (28 in) per year.  During the summer, the southern and south-western winds result in an ample temperature variation between daytime highs and night time lows. The maximum temperature in January reaches 32ºC (90ºF) and the annual average is 14ºC (57ºF). The grapes that went into this wine were handpicked in April, when the fruit had reached the desired level of ripeness. The fruit came from vineyards that are more than 22 years old the Totihue estate in Alto Cachapoal and the Los Pretiles estate in Alto  Colchagua. The vines at both estates are vertically positioned and yield an average yield of 9 tons per hectare. Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks with selected yeasts in our Maipo Valley winery. The process was carefully managed to maintain temperatures at 15º–17ºC (59º–63º), with gentle aeration and delicate lees stirring to reach the desired results. The wine was fined with bentonite and cold-stabilized before bottling to prevent tartaric precipitations in the bottle.

A highly aromatic wine with scents of rose water, musk and lemon zest. Offering generously sweet palate of turkish delight which is balanced by the acidity of the Riesling.

De Bortoli are a family run company established in 1928. 

This is a juicy red wine with a good body. Fruit and sour cherry aromas from the Menoire and Blauburger are perfectly entwined with spices from the Kekfrankos and fiery character of the Cabernet Sauvignon.

Bright ruby-red in colour with plum and red cherry aromas elegantly combine with subtle black pepper notes. The palate is juicy with ample fruit character. A delicate wood influence contributes complexity, good structure and rounded tannins. It has a soft texture and a fruity finish.
Ideal with lean red meats and white meats such as chicken and turkey. Also pairs well with ripe cheeses such as Camembert, Roquefort, Mozzarella, and Gruyere, with goat cheese, and with nuts, walnuts, and dried figs. A pleasing companion to vegetable stews and pastas with mild sauces.
Rapel Valley is located on the 6th Region, 160 km south to Santiago. This zone has good drainage,  excellent fertility and great characteristics for agriculture, especially for red varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenère and Merlot. This valley has a Mediterranean climate, it has coastal influence because it limits with the Cordillera de la Costa, which is low. There’s a great concentration of rain during winter (710 mm average) and in summer this valley receives southern winds with morning mist. Summers are very hot and have big temperature fluctuation. The grapes were manually harvested in mid April. Vinification begins with a prefermentation cold soak at 8°C for a week in order to extract the fruit. Alcoholic fermentation takes place between 25°C and 28°C with a pump-over program determined by daily tasting. Malolactic fermentation takes place naturally in stainless steel tanks and 20% of the wine was aged in barrels for 6 months; after this the wine blended in order to obtain a more complex character.

Molino Loco is made by the Castaño family in Yecla and takes its name from the windmill ('molino') that sits on the edge of the vineyards where they produce their fruit. In contrast to other windmills, which turn in windy conditions, this particular windmill is "loco", the Spanish for crazy, as it turns only on calm, still days.

VINEYARDS The vineyards are located at an altitude of 500 metres above sea level. They are dry-farmed and the clay soil is poor, meaning that the roots of the vines grow deep into the earth in their search for minerals and nutrients. This helps to ensure healthy, ripe, full of flavour grapes. The Monastrell vineyards are over 18 years old, while the Syrah vines are slightly younger, averaging around 15 years.

VINIFICATION The grapes were gently crushed before being fermented and macerated on their skins for 10 days at a controlled temperature of 24-26ºC in stainless-steel tanks. After fermentation the wine was aged very briefly in oak to round out the tannins. The delicate grape processing preserved the natural fruit purity and freshness that is so typical of the Molino Loco style. 

Perfumed and exotic nose of ripe stone fruit, honey, white flowers and orange blossom. Ample and sweet in the mouth with delicious viscosity, yet in no way cloying. Long and seductive, showing honeysuckle, peach and pear characters - with bright, fresh acidity on the finish.

Ideal for fruit tarts, pavlova, orange sponge pudding or soft blue cheeses.

This sweet wine is made from moscatel grapes sourced from 110ha of vineyard located in the Ribera Baja region of Southern Navarra. The average age of the vines is 8 years. After crushing, the grapes undergo a low-pressure pressing process to obtain the free-run juice. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel, and is stopped with the addition of grape spirit.

 Bright lemon in colour with a fruity nose and floral backnotes. Fresh fruits like pear, peach and quince on the palate with hints of honey. Mouth watering sweet, with a good finish.

The vineyard lies on one of the best sites in Nantais at Saint-Fiâcre. Here the soils are layered with orthogneiss, a cracked, mineral-rich rock through which the vine roots weave and nourish the vine. Made traditionally at this small estate, the grapes were hand-picked, lightly pressed to retain their delicacy and purity of flavour, and fermented at cool temperatures to preserve their aromas. The wine was left on its fine lees until the following spring to add complexity and extra richness

A deeply coloured, medium bodied, spicy red with aromas of ripe plums and black cherry. The palate combines warm, juicy red fruit flavours with savoury, lightly smoky characters, a hint of bitter chocolate and nip of tannin on the finish. Produced from grapes grown in the southwest and eastern Sicily.

Drink with juicy burgers with a slab of mozzarella or charred lamb steaks.

The Pecorino grapes are sourced from the district of Caparrone, in the hills west of Pescara. Fermented in stainless steel and aged for 2 months on lees.

2019 Vintage Sommelier Wine Awards 2020 GOLD 

 Slightly perfumed, ripe melon fruit on the nose. The palate is weighty and ripe but remains fresh and saline. After a well rounded attack, the palate is lifted by a crisp note typical of the wines from this terroir.

Grapes grown for this wine are only a stones throw from oyster leases in Etang de Thau bay. It is the prefect match for oysters, mussels and grilled fish. Or you can enjoy it on its own.

De Bortoli are a family run winery established in 1928.

Produced from selected Pinot Grigio grapes grown on hillside vineyards in Provincia di Pavia, northern Italy. The grapes were hand harvested during the first 2 weeks of September. The grapes were crushed and gently pressed and the juice allowed to settle and clarify before cool fermentation at 16 to 18C in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks. The wine was bottled young after a period of 3 to 6 months ageing on fine lees in stainless steel tanks. 

Pale coral pink, this is a dry, fresh and fruity rosé with delicate aromas of red berries. Good intensity of ripe red berry and cherry fruit, with a fresh lingering finish.

Produced in the Pavia region in Italy.

Serve chilled as an aperitif or to accompany salads, cold meats such as salami or smoked chicken or seafood dishes.

Produced from grapes grown in the Pavia region of northern Italy. The ripest grapes were selected from mature hillside vineyards and hand harvested in early September. The extra ripeness allows the dark-skinned Pinot Grigio grapes develop a pink tinge which is further enhanced by the addition of a small proportion of Pinot Noir grapes from the same vineyards. The grapes were harvested at optimum ripeness, crushed and the skins left in contact with the juice for 12 hours at a low temperature before gentle pressing. After a slow, cool fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks the wine was bottled young to preserve freshness and aromas.

This wine has a lovely perfumed nose with fine floral aromas mixed with a tad of honey and spice; quite full and rich, lightly smoky honeysuckle perfume with smooth but dry(ish) finish.

Serve with meaty white fish such as monkfish, salmon or trout, king prawns, turkey or spicy dishes such as sweet and sour vegetables, fish or chicken tandoori or not too spiced Thai food. 

Light cherry red in colour leads to an elegant nose of red cherry and raspberry fruit with gentle spice notes from barrel aging. The palate is silky, fine and hugely inviting. Delicious ripe summer fruit character is perfectly balanced by soft tannins and refreshing acidity. It has a long and elegant finish.
Very good with white meats and oily fish. The perfect partner for mushroom-parmesan risotto.
The Casablanca Valley is influenced by its proximity to the Pacific Ocean and its coastal breezes that moderate temperatures. The area ranges from soft rolling hills to higher hills toward the Coastal  Mountain range in the east. The poor, sandy loam soils are alluvial in origin, relatively shallow and very permeable, resulting in yields which are generally low in comparison with other Chilean valleys.  Temperatures are much cooler here, allowing the grapes to ripen very slowly to produce rich flavoured wines. The Casablanca Valley is influenced by the Pacific Ocean and the Humboldt Current, resulting in constant humidity and average temperatures of 25ºC in the summer and 14ºC in the winter. The spring of 2015 was cooler than average and the relative humidity was higher. This caused uneven budbreak and later ripening. An increase in rainfall forced an earlier harvest in April. The grapes are harvested into 400-kg bins and transported to the winery, where first the clusters and then the grapes (after destemming) are selected on a conveyor belt. Once in the tank, they undergo a pre-fermentation maceration for 3 days, followed naturally by alcoholic fermentation with native yeasts. During this stage, temperatures are kept at 24-26º C, with a gentle pump-over routine. A 2-3-day post-fermentation maceration is then carried out. Malolactic fermentation occurs spontaneously in stainless steel tanks and barrels. The wine is filtered through 1-micron membranes and then bottled. 70% of the wine is aged for 6 months in French oak barrels.

 This excellent wine is made by the family run De Bortoli winery from grapes grown in the Yarra Valley. The resulting wine is perfumed and complex with characters of red fruits, spice and smoky oak.

Good to serve with pork and fennel sausages and lentils.

Light ruby red in colour with aromas of fresh strawberries accompanied by subtle notes of spices and a touch of minerality. The medium bodied palate is elegant, delicate and fresh with juicy sour cherry
flavours balanced with ripe tannins and a long finish.

Ideal with fish and shellfish cooked with creamy sauces or butter. Also it pairs well with white meats such as chicken or turkey and as aperitif served with ham, such as Serrano or Prosciutto. It is an excellent accompaniment to sushi.

The Bio Bio has a moderate humid Mediterranean climate with warm days and cool nights prolonging the growing season. Average rainfall is among highest of all Chilean wine valleys. The Bio Bio’s higher rainfall, strong winds and broader extremes make for more challenging conditions than those of Chile’s more northerly regions. Vine growing here requires more patience, skill and nerve than in other valleys. The Pinot grows on a red clay soil here. The pressing is at low temperature to extract colour and aromas but no harsh tannins. The fermentation is relatively cool with gentle pump-overs. After fermentation is finished, 10% of the blend is aged for 6 months in French oak to give more complexity to the wine.
