The grapes for False Bay Bush Vine Pinotage stem from a single vineyard of unirrigated bush vines in Stellenbosch. The attraction to this mature (planted in 1996), coastal, bush vine vineyard were the cooler temperatures and small, naturally balanced and concentrated berries. Made by Waterkloof's talented young Cellarmaster Nadia Barnard. Balanced grapes are hand harvested, fermented spontaneously with wild yeast and then raised in large wooden casks (or 'foudre' en Francais). The resulting wine therefore, is perhaps more 'Pino' than 'Tage'. No additions other than sulphur as a preservative. Grown, made and bottled in South Africa. A fresh, dry wine made in the Western Cape. The wine is dry with classic baked apple and zippy citrus aromas with soft, delicate apple fruit on the palate well balanced by crisp acidity. Extended lees contact gives this great value wine some real weight and character.

Vibrant and aromatic with delicious generous fresh apricot, white peach and hints of passion fruit on the nose. A creamy palate with real fresh fruit flavours, fleshy just picked apricots as well as some white pepper notes. A bright and well balanced wine from the Western Cape.

A complex, richly flavoured sparkling wine made from 100% Chardonnay, with aromas of green apples and citrus. Hints of lime are also evident along with notes of toasted bread and hazelnuts The palate is rich and creamy, textured with an explosive acidity and lasting, elegant finish.

The grapes were hand harvested in the cool early morning, than whole bunch pressed. The wine was blended and bottled and then aged in bottle for approximately 36 months, then it was released for sale.

A bright, vibrant wine with spicy red berry fruit such as blueberry and mulberry, exotic spice and creamy vanilla, evident ripe tannins and a long finish. This wine drinks well young but will improve over the next 6 to 8 years, gaining more complexity. 

The grapes were hand-picked into small baskets and taken to the cellar. A portion was fermented in open bins and hand-punched four times a day. The rest was fermented in a rototank. No commercial yeast was used as these grapes ferment well with their own yeast. The wine matured in a mixture of French and American oak barrels for 14 months. Approximately 30% was new wood.

Recommendation Deeply flavoured dishes. Peking duck, sweet & sour Pork belly, mushroom risotto.

This is a deep, ruby coloured, concentrated red blend shows prominent aromas of dark cherry, blackcurrant and vanilla. On the palate cinnamon, sweet spice and ripe, juicy dark fruit together with a firm tannin structure, ensures good length and an enduring finish.

Grapes were harvested at optimal ripeness. After de-stem, they were cold soaked for two days to extract more fruit character and enhance colour. The wine was inoculated with specially selected yeast strains and fermented until dry. Free-run juice was racked to barrel where it underwent malolactic fermentation. The wine was then racked from the lees and returned to barrel for 18 months of maturation.

Recommendation This wine can be enjoyed on its own or with a variety of flavourful meat dishes.

"Wonderfully seductive aromatics of violets and lilac, lush ripe red and black berry fruits and a creamy, bruléed top note of brown toast and roasted coffee beans. The palate texture is simply drop dead gorgeous with a cool, fleshy, dreamy harmony of tart black plum, black cherry, black currant, salty black liquorice and a subtle leafy sapidity on the finish that adds plenty of interest."

A ripe fruity red produced in the Western Cape. With plenty of dark fruit flavours and black pepper notes on the palate and a good firm finish.

A ripe full bodied wine from the Western cape with a wonderful lifted perfume nose with bright raspberry and crushed blackcurrant and a touch of savoury gaminess. Smooth with a long full finish.

Fresh and zesty with grassy and dry bay leaf aromatics, mineral notes, with hints of richness. This is a restrained Sauvignon Blanc with a palate that has lots of minerality and citrus with lightly herbal notes. The finish is ripe and gently honeyed with crisp green apple fruit and fresh acidity.

Perfect with a host of Mediterranean dishes, or with Chinese squid or Thai fish dishes.
