Casa Ermelinda Freitas is a fourth-generation family winery located in Fernando Pó on Portugal’s Setúbal Peninsula, south of Lisbon. Led by Leonor Freitas, the winery began bottling under its own label in 1997 after significant investment in modern facilities. The region’s Mediterranean climate, with hot summers, cool winters, and over 300 hours of sun per month, contributes to the production of distinctive, high-quality wines.This wine presents a dark violet colour. Intense aromas of blackberries and black plums, violets and hints of spices. The palate is rich, with the presence of fine herbs and a touch of cocoa accompanied by notes of mint and violet and the sweetness of vanilla from oak ageing. A very well concentrated, with velvety and well-integrated tannins.

Cabernet Sauvignon Hayes Ranch California USA
This Cabernet Sauvignon comes from select vineyards in California with warm days and cool nights. These vineyards are characterized by a long growing season which helps develop ripe and round fruit flavours. Each vineyard was harvested and fermented separately in upright stainless steel fermenters. Rack and return, which is the process of draining all of the free-run juice off the cap and then returning the free-run juice back over the top of the fermenter, was performed twice daily. This method increases colour and tannin extraction and improves the mouthfeel through the integration of oxygen. This wine was aged for 12 months in neutral oak. Flavours of red cherry, anise, and a hint of vanilla, abound in this Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine is well balanced with medium tannins, a smooth mid-palate and a spicy, coffee finish.

De-stemmed and crushed straight to the press with no skin contact. The majority of the fermintation takes place in stainless steel while 4% of the wine is fermented in old oak to add depth and structure to the palate. After fermentation, the wine is kept on the lees until bottled.

It is believed to have been brought to California by emigrants from Southern Italy. The wine is made to a traditional process that takes into account the grapes character.
