Casa Ermelinda Freitas is a fourth-generation family winery located in Fernando Pó on Portugal’s Setúbal Peninsula, south of Lisbon. Led by Leonor Freitas, the winery began bottling under its own label in 1997 after significant investment in modern facilities. The region’s Mediterranean climate, with hot summers, cool winters, and over 300 hours of sun per month, contributes to the production of distinctive, high-quality wines.This wine presents a dark violet colour. Intense aromas of blackberries and black plums, violets and hints of spices. The palate is rich, with the presence of fine herbs and a touch of cocoa accompanied by notes of mint and violet and the sweetness of vanilla from oak ageing. A very well concentrated, with velvety and well-integrated tannins.

After harvest, the hand-picked grapes are laid out to dry in hillside barns called "fruttai", to concentrate their flavours and bring added complexity to the wine - a traditional winemaking technique from roman times. Rich, full-bodied flavours of black cherries, prunes and cedar spice are followed by a long, elegant finish. Aged in oak for minimum of 2 years.Amarone Bolla is produced on the hills of the Classico district. 300-350 meters above sea level, with south-west and south-east aspecting.

The climate here is warm and dry, and some of the vines are over 50 years old. After harvesting fermentation takes place in stainless steel, with a small portion (around 10%) ageing for 4 months in 2nd year French oak barrels, before the final blending and bottling.

The tannins are ripe and providewelcome grip and combined delicious acidity, leads to a balanced finish.FOOD MATCHThis wine is ideal with well-seasoned, strong-flavoured dishes, such as pasta with Bolognese sauce, stuffed cannelloni, grilled beef, pork, or poultry. It also goes very nicely with ripe cheeses, salami, ham, and pastrami. The Central Valley vitivinicultural zone extends from the Maipo Valley in the north to the Maule Valley in the south. The entire zone has good drainage, high fertility, and tremendous agricultural aptitude, especially for red grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenère, and others. The Mediterranean climate has warm summers with broad daily oscillations between daytime and night time temperatures, and cold, rainy winters that allow for good vine development. The soils are of alluvial origin with moderate depth, and good for agriculture. The grapes were hand picked in mid- April and submitted to a week-long pre-fermentation cold soak at 8ºC (46ºF) to extract fresh fruit characteristics. Alcoholic fermentation took place at 25º–28ºC with daily pump-overs. The new wine remained on its skins for a period, after which the free run wine was separated from its skins and allowed to undergo malolactic fermentation naturally. Part of this wine was aged in oak barrels for 6 months and later reblended to achieve a more complex character.Suitable for Vegetarians and VegansThis wine is Organic.

The idea with the Bean is to create a wine with dark fruit that is finely integrated with coffee/mocha flavours. To achieve this, the wine was fermented and aged on well roasted French oak staves. The Bean has a deep purple colour, the nose shows dark mocha and roasted coffee bean aromas. The wine has a lot of tannin, but these tannins are fine and silky and well integrated. The palate is mouth filling and surprisingly complex for such a young wine.
