Intense and deep coloured with aromas of nuts, honey and wood. The full and soft body has a complex flavours of walnuts, dried fruits, coffee and caramel. Full bodied with a very lengthy finish.

Superb after dinner or with chocolate desserts.

Madeira is a fortified wine that depends upon heat and evaporation to create consistent long lasting styles. The must is fortified, either to arrest fermentation for a Malmsey or a Bual, or later in the fermentation process, in the case of Sercial or Verdelho before undergoing its own very special maturation. The Canteiro process is employed for all 10 and 15 year old Madeiras from H&H where the wine is heated naturally in barrels over some months to enhance concentration and consistency of the wine. Malmsey produces a rich sweet style whilst still exhibiting delicious mouthwatering acidity.

A spicy rich Madeira with a mellow, ripe finish - sometimes described as liquid christmas pudding. Intense aromas of dried fruits, including figs and walnuts. It is full of rich spices and caramel notes.

Delicious on its own or also ideal with desserts such as ice cream or fruit salads.

This 5 Year Old Madeira starts life as fermenting must and is then fortified before undergoing its own very special maturation process. Made of predominantly Tinta Negra Mole Grapes, harvest begins from mid-August due to the warm southerly climate. A unique and highly sophisticated artificial Estufa process is set up for the 5 year old wines, where temperatures rise to 45ºC before being allowed to cool. This process takes 90 days and renders the wine completely stable. It is then aged in oak casks for 5 years, prior to bottling.

A deep golden brown colour with honey and raisins on the nose, rich and full bodied and soft textured; a great after dinner drink.

Made from grapes grown about 200 metres on the north of the island of Madeira.

It is a superb accompaniment to desserts, especially cakes, fruit, chocolate puddings and soft cheeses.

It is ready for drinking and once opened will keep for several months.

Blandy's Duke of Cumberland is fined and does not require decanting. It is a superb accompaniment to dessert dishes, especially fruit, cakes, milk chocolate or custard puddings and soft cheeses. It has been bottled when ready for drinking and will keep for several months after opening.

VINEYARDS Various quality vineyards grown at between 200m and 400m on the north of the island near São Vicente. VINIFICATION Blandy's Duke of Cumberland underwent fermentation on the skins with natural yeast at between 24°C - 26°C C in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks. After approximately 3 days, fortification with grape brandy takes place, arresting fermentation at the desired degree of sweetness.

MATURATION Blandy's Duke of Cumberland was transferred to 'estufa' tanks where the wine underwent a cyclic heating and cooling process between 45°C and 50°C over a period of 3 months. After 'estufagem' the wine was aged for three years in American oak casks and then underwent racking and fining before the blend was assembled and bottled.

A dark, luscious and fragrant sweet wine with aromas of caramel. Full-bodied and very fruity, rich and a very intense palate.

Should be enjoyed as a dessert wine, with rich desserts, such as puddings, chocolate cakes and fruit desserts etc.
