A lovely clean mineral fruity nose of hawthorn and acacia. The palate has notes of lemongrass and white peach and it is round and supple with citrus hints. The wine has a very long full finish and is rich and well structured - a good example of Chardonnay from this area in Burgundy.
Ideal with seafood gratins, poultry, shellfish and
sautéed vegetables, veal, or steamed fish, poached and in white sauce, flowery
cheeses, such as Camembert, and Goat cheeses.
Philippe Mariller, brother-in-law, Michel
Gaillard, and his son Valentin, freshly graduated with a diploma in winegrowing
and winemaking from the Davayé wine school, are the three partners behind this
new wine domaine. The domaine is situated in the Viré area of the Burgundy wine
region and has 42 hectares of vines including the magnificent ‘Epinet’ climat
which enjoys a south-eastern exposure and produces some very dry and mineral
wines.
