Made from 100% Malbec from grapes grown in the Cahors Region in the South of France.

The vineyards are all over 40 years old and are situated at high altitude, close to the Andes Mountain range. The three vineyards are situated between 700 to 1,100 metres above sea level, from where the view is simply stunning.

Goyenechea Winery was founded in 1868 by the brothers Santiago and Narciso Goyenechea. These Spanish immigrants commenced their business activity in Argentina by establishing wine and spirits stores in Buenos Aires. Later on they purchased an estate and winery in Villa Atuel, to the south of the Mendoza Province. A few decades later, between 1930 and 1940, the Goyenechea and the Arizu families planted vines and developed the largest vineyard in the world.

Celebrating the first centenary of Goyenechea, this deep-red wine, with violet and purple highlights has dark fruit notes, and a distinctive smoky touch from oak; 50% of the wine spends 6 months in French barrique and once bottled the wine is cellared at the winery for one year to ensure it is ready to drink when released.

Ripe fruits on the nose with aromas of plums and quince and a touch of elegant oak. Blackberry and liquorice fruit on the palate lead to a rich and long finish with smoky accents of vanilla and lingering oak.

40% of the wine is matured in American oak barrels for 8 months. 

Enjoy with pasta in tomato sauce or an Argentine style steak.

An intense purplish red coloured wine with deep aromatic notes of juicy plum, fresh violets and roses and a hint of cedar. In the mouth, it is medium bodied and round in texture with plush, raspberry, vanilla and violet notes. This leads to soft tannins and a persistent finish. The grapes are hand picked and the wine is aged in French oak for 6 months.

Try with red meats, raw ham, medium cheeses, grilled meats, pork and grilled chicken.
