3A deep dark cherry red wine made from Tempranillo grapes that are hand harvested. The nose is fresh and intense with attractive blackberry and raspberry hints. The local grapes - Touriga Nacional, Touriga Francesa and Tinta Roriz - grow in fine soils with some schist in vineyards near Cambres, in the western part of the Douro valley and south of the river. The climate here is warm and dry, and some of the vines are over 50 years old. After harvesting fermentation takes place in stainless steel, with a small portion (around 10%) ageing for 4 months in 2nd year French oak barrels, before the final blending and bottling.

Made from Nebbiolo grapes cultivated around the town of Barolo in southern Piemonte. These are trained on a low Guyot trellis at a density 4-5,000 vines/ha. The grapes were hand-harvested, de stemmed and then crushed to small fermenters, for around 12 days, with daily pumping-over. This ensures good colour and flavour extraction, but avoids over extraction of the abundant Nebbiolo tannins. The wine was drained off at dryness, and the skins transferred to a small press. After pressing the wine was settled for two days, and then racked to stainless steel tanks for malolactic fermentation. After three years maturation in 50hl Slavonian oak casks it was racked and bottled.

The deeply coloured skins of old-vine Bobal grapes give this wine its intensity and soft tannins whilst the Syrah fleshes out the body with ripe black fruit characters.

The grapes come into the winery as whole bunches because the Vallets believe that destalked wines lose their colour too quickly. The first 10cm of each barrel is filled with grapes which are crushed by foot, the barrel is then topped up with whole bunches and fermentation starts naturally after 2-3 days. Since yeasts are an expression of the individual vintage and vineyard, no artificial yeasts are used. 3-4 times a day the pulp is trodden by foot to further extract colour and flavour. The wines are left in open top fermenters until the cap sinks then decanted into 20-30% well-toasted new oak (a small percentage compared to most). After 15-20 months the wine is racked, blended and lightly fined. Wines are not filtered but checked by candlelight, then bottled directly from barrel by hand on a cask by cask basis.

The grapes for False Bay Bush Vine Pinotage stem from a single vineyard of unirrigated bush vines in Stellenbosch. The attraction to this mature (planted in 1996), coastal, bush vine vineyard were the cooler temperatures and small, naturally balanced and concentrated berries. Made by Waterkloof's talented young Cellarmaster Nadia Barnard. Balanced grapes are hand harvested, fermented spontaneously with wild yeast and then raised in large wooden casks (or 'foudre' en Francais). The resulting wine therefore, is perhaps more 'Pino' than 'Tage'. No additions other than sulphur as a preservative. Grown, made and bottled in South Africa. Dark garnet in colour, this wine is full of dark berry fruit such as blackberry, blueberry and black cherry. Oak ageing has contributed just a hint of smoke to the nose. The round, creamy wine delivers an abundance of the fruit flavours promised. The red fruit and oak are well integrated and the complexity of the wine plays on the palate.

The name Los Cardos comes from the thistle: the sign of a good harvest. This wine represents just that, a fantastic example of Cabernet Sauvignon from Mendoza in Argentina. Deep ruby red in colour, it is full of black fruit flavours, with a good hint of spice as well. It is really elegant, with a long finish.

The grapes are harvested in late March and early April. In the winery, they are first destemmed and softly crushed. A cold pre fermentative maceration takes place to preserve the primary aromas. Then, the must is cooled and traditional fermentation starts.

Taken from the pristine soils of the Limestone Coast, this Cabernet Sauvignon shows the trademark bright fruit and generous flavours associated with the region. The cool air flow and long sunshine hours in this area provide extended ripening and hence complexity. Cabernet is well suited to this climate, developing intense black fruit aromas whilst maintaining lovely natural acidity and a sturdy tannin structure.

Ruby red in colour. The nose is intense, with a pronounced presence of fruity aromas such as cherries and strawberries as well as truffle and chocolate. Medium bodied, well balanced, and delicate, with particularly smooth tannins and rich acidity, resulting in a juicy and very pleasing wine with a persistent finish.

Ideal with meat-based dishes and stews. This wine shows a unique harmony with grilled blood sausage, slow-cooked beef, and pastas such as gnocchi with blue cheese. Serve at 18ºC in a Bordeauxstyle glass.
The grapes for this wine come from organic vineyards of Los Morros and Los Robles in the Maipo Valley. Soils are alluvial, rich in minerals with good drainage and irrigated by water from the snow  thaw. The grapes were hand picked. The Maipo zone has ideal conditions for growing Cabernet Sauvignon. The Maipo River regulates the temperatures naturally and prevents frost and extremes of heat and cold. The spring of 2013 was slightly colder than the historic average, followed by a summer with high temperatures, which accelerated ripening and prevented the delays that were initially predicted for the 2014 harvest. Rainfall in the Maipo Valley was concentrated in the winter months and reached approximately 250 mm, which is well below the nearly 450 mm recorded during the 2012–2013 season. The grape reception area includes a double selection conveyor belt that allows selection first at the bunch level and again after destemming. Vinification begins with a 4–5-day prefermentation cold soak at 8ºC followed by alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks with native yeasts at 26ºC and a pumpovers program determined by enological criteria. Malolactic fermentation takes place naturally in tanks and barrels, where the wine is aged at controlled temperatures for 12 months. It is neither fined nor stabilized; it is just lightly filtered with a 1-micron cartridge filter prior
to bottling.

The Central Valley vitivinicultural zone extends from the Maipo Valley in the north to the Maule Valley in the south. The entire zone has good drainage, high fertility, and tremendous agricultural aptitude, especially for red grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenère, and others. The Mediterranean climate has warm summers with broad daily oscillations between daytime and night time temperatures, and cold, rainy winters that allow for good vine development. The soils are of alluvial origin with moderate depth, and good for agriculture. The grapes were hand picked in mid- April and submitted to a week-long pre-fermentation cold soak at 8ºC (46ºF) to extract fresh fruit characteristics. Alcoholic fermentation took place at 25º–28ºC with daily pump-overs. The new wine remained on its skins for a period, after which the free run wine was separated from its skins and allowed to undergo malolactic fermentation naturally. Part of this wine was aged in oak barrels for 6 months and later reblended to achieve a more complex character.

The Colchagua Valley extends from San Fernando in the north to Chimbarongo in the south. The climate is Mediterranean, and the area receives winds from the south and morning fog. Springs are frost-free, and summers are very warm, which encourages proper ripening. Summers are hot but with cool night temperatures. The soils are medium to very deep, of alluvial origin, and have a silty-loam texture that allows for good vine development. The grapes were hand picked in late April and early May and submitted to a week-long pre-fermentation cold treatment at 8ºC (46ºF) to extract more fruit characteristics. Alcoholic fermentation took place at 25º–28ºC (77º–82ºF) with pumpovers determined  by daily tastings through the end of the process. A post-fermentation maceration followed, and then the wine was devatted, separating the free-run wine from the skins. Malolactic fermentation took place naturally. 20% of the wine was aged in French oak for 6 months and then blended for a more complex character.

An intense dark ruby coloured wine made from a blend of traditional grapes mainly: Grenache Noir, Syrah and Mouvedre. The grapes are sorted by hand before destemming and crushing. The wine is matured in vats and oak casks before bottling.

The nose has ripe black fruit, cherry and spices. The palate reveals the presence of tannins and is elegant and full. The finish is long and luxurious.

This is a traditional Châteauneuf-du-Pape serious and brooding and benefits from a little time to breath and open up. The palate is complex with herby, tapenade flavours and ripe textured tannins balancing the significant 15% alcohol which is expertly managed and integrated. 

Try with traditional roast lamb, lentil and vegetable moussaka and any rich hot-pot that heavily features aromatic 'herbes de Provence'. 

The soils of the vineyard are made up of clay and chalk covered with a layer of the classic large peebles ('galets') found in this area, which naturally keep yields low. The vines are over 60 years old and situated near the plateau de Carbières (close to Château Montredon). Harvesting is by hand, with selective sorting of the grapes. The grapes undergo a traditional long 'cuvaison' at quite high temperature and with extended maceration on the skins, 21-24 days to extract plenty of colour, fruit and tannins. This is followed by ageing for between 14-18 months in 'foudres' (large oak barrels), 70% vats, 30% Burgundian pieces and casks.

A warm, generous, spicy nose, with macerated fruit compote characters. The palate has fresh red cherry flavours and fine, polished tannins - showing depth and good integration along with crunchy red fruit and a long supple finish.

A large estate, with 180 hectares of immaculately maintained vineyards in Castelnuovo Berardenga, which lies adjacent to its sister property Villa la Pagliaia. The wines at both are made by Leonardo Bellacini, a master of the 'non interventionist' approach, giving classic expressions of high quality Sangiovese, restrained and complex and with great balance and depth. The secret lies in high quality grapes from exceptional vineyards, driven by an intensive research programme, in particular by selection of the best naturally occuring clones. The wine is aged for 60 months in the barrel and the bottle with at least 24 months in oak barrels and a minimum 24 months in the cellar.

Quinta dos Carvalhais is a beautiful estate in the Terras de Senhorim sub-region of the Dão and is one of the region's most respected producers. In addition to investing in their own vineyards, Quinta dos Carvalhais has also been instrumental in defending the interests of local winegrowers and for pioneering the quality revolution in the Dão region. The talented Beatriz Cabral de Almeida is head winemaker and makes a very impressive range of single-varietal wines and interesting blends from the estate vineyards.

Ruby red in colour. On the nose lively aromas of strawberries, blackberries and cherries are married with subtle floral nuances. It is smooth on the palate with round tannins and a refreshing acidity. The wine is not oak aged.

Grapes for the Grão Vasco wines are sourced from a network of trusted Dão growers who follow sustainable practices in their vineyards. The Dão region is on the raised Beirão pleateau and the vineyards are at altitudes of around 450 metres above sea level. Cool nights here counteract the warmth of the days, ensuring that the grapes undergo a slow ripening process and retain a fresh acidity whilst accumulating great depth of flavour. Soils in the Dão are predominantly granitic, which lends elegance to the wines.

Goes well with grilled beef or lamb or robust stew. For a veggie alternative try with spinach and lentil casserole.

A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (40%), Syrah (40%), Cinsault (15%) and Carignan (5%) Grapes are grown on 15-20 year old vines on sandy limestone, with clay sub-soils. All four varietals were hand harvested and fermented in concrete vats for 10 days. Malolactic fermentation begins spontaneously, after which the wine was blended and then aged for 16 months in concrete vats.

Appearance: Bright ruby colour.

Nose: Cherry, underwood and mild spices flavours.

Palate: Subtle with a nice roundness. Tannins are silky and the finish dominated by the fruit.

Serving temperature around 10-14 degrees.

To be drunk now but it will age with no alteration for 2 to 3 years.

A full bodied wine made from a blend of Carignan, Syrah and Grenache in the heart of the Cathar country, near the small village of Tuchan. A garnet red wine with purple hues. 

The palate is complex and intensively fruity with notes of vanilla with powerful tannins followed by a long pleasant finish.

Serve with grilled and cooked meats, Mediterranean cuisine or strong cheeses.

A heady perfume of freshly picked irises and peonies drift above the crushed berry fruit nose. The fleshy, luscious, cherry flavours and hints of rose are typically vivacious, backed up with a touch of spice and good depth.

Félicette is produced in the South-West of France, between Narbonne and Beziers, with its hot and dry mediterranean climate influence. Soils are sandy and silty as well as a chalk/ clay mix on the hillside vineyards.

The grapes are harvested, destemmed and then either hot macerated to extract colour a beautiful dark red colour, and some are cold fermented to get the best possible varietal fruit extraction. The fermentation is then conducted at controlled temperature with gentle pumping overs to extract only the better tannins. The different pressings are then blended in December and aged in stainless steel tank to preserve fruit and round tannins. No oak treatment whatsoever. Just clean star bright fruit.

Selected by the band and approved by Eddie, this wine has been expertly crafted in tribute to all things Maiden: good friends, good music, good times! A dark, intense and robust red blend from the Douro. The palate delivers a crescendo of blackberry, ripe black cherries and plums layered over subtle spice and a bold, rich finish. Best enjoyed with the volume turned up.

A deep coloured red wine with an intense, elegant bouquet of blackcurrant, blackberry, raspberry and cherry. In the mouth these fruits are evident with fullness and roundness and balance with gives good length. The finish is long with spicy notes.

“Finca Vista” translates to “Estate View”. The grapes for this wine have been carefully selected from three high quality vineyards in the Mendoza region; Lujan, Maipu and Junin. The vineyards are all over 40 years old and are situated at high altitude, close to the Andes Mountain range. The three vineyards are situated between 700 to 1,100 metres above sea level, from where the view is simply stunning.

Maury is a “vin doux naturel” style wine created by adding fortifying spirits, such as brandy, to the wine in mid-fermentation. Warm black cherry and blackberry on the nose with spicy vanilla aromas. Selected from vines older than forty years and matured in new oak barrels, 100% Grenache.

Rapel Valley is located on the 6th Region, 160 km south to Santiago. This zone has good drainage,  excellent fertility and great characteristics for agriculture, especially for red varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenère and Merlot. This valley has a Mediterranean climate, it has coastal influence because it limits with the Cordillera de la Costa, which is low. There’s a great concentration of rain during winter (710 mm average) and in summer this valley receives southern winds with morning mist. Summers are very hot and have big temperature fluctuation. The grapes were manually harvested in mid April. Vinification begins with a prefermentation cold soak at 8°C for a week in order to extract the fruit. Alcoholic fermentation takes place between 25°C and 28°C with a pump-over program determined by daily tasting. Malolactic fermentation takes place naturally in stainless steel tanks and 20% of the wine was aged in barrels for 6 months; after this the wine blended in order to obtain a more complex character.
